David Walliams dropped by publishing house.

The author

Acclaimed young adult author and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

An official for the firm commented: "Upon deliberation, and following the appointment of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing additional books by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding claims about conduct deemed unsuitable involving young women.

The company declined to specify the reasons for its decision, noting: "We do not comment on internal matters."

An Illustrious Publishing History

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

He has published more than 40 books altogether, which features a Christmas book titled *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins last autumn.

From Screen to Page

He first rose to fame on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 honoring his contributions to the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
