Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
