Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
